let's swing, let's play...

Sophia loves to swing.
Looking at these photos, I think maybe we should all swing more.
We could all take more time for playing, relaxing, feeling the wind in our hair, & giggling just because.

This weekend we will go to our first circus with the girls, where they will see clowns, trapeze artists, and I am sure lots of glitz and music and color. When I think about it, I haven't been to a circus in at least 30 years. It's interesting how your life completely changes when kids become involved - whether they are your own children or someone else's. You start to take time for play, you are forced to play. Probably one of the reasons I became an artist was because when you make art, you are allowed to "play." Making art or music or dance are a few of the accepted forms of play for adults.

So let's play more, let's be creative, let's make art and music and dance and giggle.

I'll leave you this week with a quote from Keri Smith: "Be present. Enjoy yourself. Trust that your body remembers what it feels like to play. Move from your center. Gain strength from one another, and walk forward with courage. The universe is waiting..." (Keri has a great website by the way!)

And another from Henry Miller - "The aim of life is to live, and to live means to be aware, joyously, drunkenly, serenely, divinely aware."

Truly words to live by.
Enjoy your weekend!

xoxo

This is the favourite game of my childhood. I still have my swing at the back yard, and once a while I seat there to fly a bit. Good old times that can be remenbered many times!
